Day 1 Fly to Halifax
Welcome to Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city that deftly blends the past with the present! The heart of Halifax is perfect for exploring on foot! It's also a great place to base yourself and take diverse daytrips. Why not explore the city, enjoy your first fresh seafood of the trip and rest up for the night at your hotel after picking your car up at Halifax Airport. 1 night in Halifax.
Day 2 Halifax to Truro (95km)
Known as the “Hub of Nova Scotia”, Truro’s size, central location and historic downtown makes it a popular home-base for exploring the province and the world-renowned tidal phenomena of the Bay of Fundy. On the edge of town visitors flock to the Salmon River to view the tidal bore that occurs twice a day as a result of the immense incoming Fundy tide. Nearby on the Shubenacadie River, adventurers can also enjoy the one-of-a-kind thrill of tidal bore river rafting! Overnight in Truro.
Day 3 Truro to Antigonish (116km)
Head to Antigonish, the highland heart of Nova Scotia! Antigonish is a small town, rich in Gaelic history nestled in the north eastern part of the province. The county is full of rolling hills and beautiful farms, surrounded by lovely beaches on its shores.. Relax on Pomquet Beach Provincial Park located north east of Antigonish, with its beautiful dunes and occasional sand bars and be sure to stroll along the boardwalk. Overnight in Antigonish.
Day 4 Antigonish to Cheticamp/Cape Breton (135km)
Welcome to the rugged headlands, sandy beaches, lush green valleys and wild, open barrens... a destination point for all ages in all seasons and the starting point for your adventure into the Cape Breton Highlands. Make a stop at Inverness Beach, on a clear day, you can even catch a view of Prince Edward Island. Be sure to grab an ice-cream at the canteen! Cheticamp is a busy fishing village in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. With a thriving Acadian culture, visitors will often hear the lively sounds of Acadian being spoken. Day 5 Cheticamp to Baddeck / Cabot Trail (262km)
Cape Breton Island is home to the world-renown Cabot Trail, one of the world's must-see Islands. Today, we suggest a scenic drive along the Cabot Trail into the highlands of Northern Cape Breton. Day 7 Baddeck to Liscomb Mills (188km)
Continue southbound, passing charming maritime communities. Travel through Port Hawksbury and over the Canso Causeway connecting eastern and western Nova Scotia. . Why not stop at the ‘Sherbrooke village’ for a day trip back in time as Nova Scotia’s 19th century heritage is brought to life for visitors of all ages. Overnight in Liscomb Mills.
Day 8 Liscomb Mills to Halifax (196km) - Fly Home
Make your way to the Liscomb Game Sanctuary to observe an abundance of wildlife. Follow the Marine Drive back to the airport for your return flight home.
