Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Vancouver
Welcome to Canada! On arrival to Vancouver, transfer independently to your airport hotel.
Day 2: Vancouver to Victoria
Your adventure begins as you pick up your motorhome! Today you will take the ferry from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to Vancouver Island. Sit back and relax on the top deck as the ferry weaves its way through the Gulf Islands and make sure you keep your eyes open for wildlife! After leaving the ferry you will pass the world-famous Butchart Gardens which is well worth a visit.
Day 3: Victoria
You have a free day to explore Victoria, this historical capitol city of British Columbia. Marvel at Parliament House before taking a stroll along the harbour to Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s from here that many of the boat trips looking from Orca depart. In the evening visit Canada’s oldest Chinatown in the heart of downtown Victoria, known for it’s delicious food and colourful architecture.
Day 4: Victoria to Sooke
It’s only a short drive to Sooke, so you have plenty of time to stock up your motorhome. Along the way, consider stopping at the historic Hatley Castle or if you prefer to stretch your legs in nature then explore the Matheson Lake Regional Park.
Day 5: Sooke to Lake Cowichan
Today, take the long way to your destination and you won’t regret it! Follow the coastline towards Port Renfrew and you will enter the Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. This magnificent coastal park has many trails of varying length that allow you to immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery. Tear yourself away from the coast (don’t worry you’ll be back!) and head inland to Lake Cowichan.
Day 6: Lake Cowichan to Nanaimo
Lake Cowichan is known for its water sports, from action packed jet skiing to the more relaxed tubing! On the drive to Nanaimo you will pass the city of Duncan which is surrounded by wineries. Why not visit a winery and take a couple of bottles away to enjoy later in the evening?
Day 7: Nanaimo to Ucluelet
Head through the rugged interior of Vancouver Island stopping at the spectacular Cathedral Grove and many lookouts along the way. Your end destination is Ucluelet, located on a small peninsular facing the Pacific Ocean.
Day 8: Ucluelet
Today you have a full day to explore the surrounding area. Join a kayak tour to explore the Broken Islands, or a bear watching tour from Tofino or just cruise leisurely up and down the coastline stopping at the many famous beaches along the way. If you want a night off from cooking, Tacofino in Tofino is a legendary spot serving fresh tacos with an assortment of different fillings.
Day 9: Ucluelet to Campbell River
You have time this morning for one last tour, why not go whale watching? The local area has resident Grey Whales and depending on the season, you may see Humpback Whales as they pass by on their annual migration. This afternoon, head back through Vancouver Island and up to Campbell River.
Day 10: Campbell River
Natural beauty abounds Campbell River! Elk Falls Provincial Park has a spectacular waterfall which is best viewed from the nearby suspensions bridge (over viewpoints are available!). Or visit McIvor Lake Park to relax on the beach and swim in the cool lake.
Day 11: Campbell River to Lund
It’s a short drive south to Comox where you will take the ferry over the Strait of Georgia to the Sunshine Coast and head up to the coastal village of Lund.
Day 12: Lund
There is no better way to explore the surrounding coastline than by taking to the water, so why not take a boat cruise or a guided kayak tour of the Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park? The isolation of this provincial park makes it a hotspot for wildlife so keep your eyes peeled for Orca, Sea Otters and other marine wildlife.
Day 13: Lund to Sechelt
Leave Lund behind, and take the ferry from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove. On the way to Sechelt you will pass Pender Harbour, a collection of quaint coastal villages wrapped around a stunning natural harbour. Climb Pender Hill for spectacular views over the harbour and stop at one of the many waterside marinas for a delicious lunch.
Day 14: Sechelt to Burnaby
Today is your final day on the Sunshine Coast but there is still so much to see! Nearby is the Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park which is a short walk with epic views. The coastal community of Gibsons may be small but it reached worldwide fame for being the setting of long-running TV show, The Beachcombers. Eating Fish and Chips from Molly’s Reach whilst taking in the sea views is a must! Afterwards take the ferry from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay and drive onwards to Burnaby, the final destination of your adventure.
Day 15: Return your motorhome and fly home
Today your tour comes to an end when you return your motorhome to the rental station. Transfer independently to Vancouver Airport for your flight home.
