Eastern USA and Canada Heritage Voyage

Day 1 – 4 Fly to Boston

Arrive in one of the most historic cities in the US, from the American Revolution to the site of the very first public school it has many stories to tell. Be sure to plan a historic walking tour of Boston known as the Freedom trail. Boston also has a huge food scene with seafood being the main cuisine on offer if there’s a sports fanatic in you then Boston is probably one of the best and most diverse cities to visit offering an array of the big American sports including baseball and basketball.

Day 5 Embark on Cruise

Take today to see the last-minute tourist stops or buy those souvenirs prior to boarding your cruise at 5pm.

Day 6 Bar Harbor, Maine

This coastal town was made popular in the 1900’s when America’s elite vacationed here in their summer cottages, since then the harbour is well known for its proximity to the world-famous Acadia National Park. The park is one of the first places in the United States to see the sunrise everyday and during the fall season will open your eyes to dramatic reds and oranges as the changing of colour descends onto the region. Take in a culinary tour for local fare and craft beer.

Day 7 Halifax, Nova Scotia

Boasting the world’s second largest natural harbour Halifax offers a capital with strong ties to the ocean and the food that she brings. The cuisine on offer here is second to none offering any culinary connoisseur fare of all kinds. Visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 to learn about Canada’s immigration. Hear the story of Peggy’s Cove where less than 40 residents live year-round.

Day 8 Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

A booming coal industry brought immigration from many parts of the world and with over 50 ethnic backgrounds this is reflected in the history and food. Take a picturesque excursion to Cape Breton Island for dramatic scenery and view the famous shores of Bras d’Or Lakes.

Day 9 Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Charlottetown might be a small city, but it has a lot to offer anyone who visits. It has charm and hospitality sums up what Prince Edward Island is famous for. Culinary experiences and art and culture are the main themes. Sample the handmade jams, visit the Anne of Green Fables homestead and stroll the boardwalk to take in the Victorian architecture and red sandstone cliffs.

Day 10 At Sea

Take today to relax on board your cruise. Why not take some time in the Mandara Spa or enjoy some downtime strolling around deck.

Day 11 Saguenay (Le Baie), Quebec

The city of Saguenay was only formed in 2002 and is comprised of three boroughs, La Baie, Chicoutimi and Jonquiere. La Baie is found on Baie des Ha Ha. This French speaking region is north of Quebec City and offers you a chance to explore the wilderness of the region. Visit the Saguenay Fjord National Park and Monts-Valin National Park.

Day 12 Disembark Cruise overnight Quebec City

Lying on the Saint Lawrence River and divided by steep bluffs into Upper Town and Lower Town. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Quebec City is stunning. Visit the old quarter in Upper Town, the only walled city in North America, for cobblestone streets and magnificent heritage.

Day 13 – 14 Quebec City, Quebec

Quebec City is a top foodie destination due to its French, British, North America and Indigenous influences but if food is not your thing then why not get closer to nature. The Quebec City Areas famous for its natural beauty, from peaceful lakes to rolling river to the glacial valley of Jacques-Cartier National Park.

Day 15 Via Rail Quebec City to Montreal

One of the easiest and most scenic ways to explore Canada’s Eastern coast is by train. The Via Rail passenger service will get you from Quebec City into Montreal in approximately 3hours. Overnight Montreal

Day 16 Montreal

Montreal is a big, bustling city with a huge cultural scene, think festivals and exotic flavours. From the trails of Mount Royal to the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal there is plenty to see and do. Overnight Montreal

Day 17 Via Rail Montreal to Ottawa

Another city to travel to so once more board the Via Rail service and transfer between the province of Quebec into Ontario. Watch as the changing landscapes pass during this 2-hour journey. Overnight Ottawa

Day 18 – 19 Ottawa

The capital of Canada and a city of more than 1 million people. Located on the Quebec/Ontario border this city speaks both French and English. Discover Canada’ proud heritage at impressive national sites and famous landmarks including the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). World class museums and galleries displaying stunning collections as well as festivals throughout the year including the biggest of them all Canada Day on 1st July. 2 nights Ottawa

Day 20 Via Rail Ottawa to Toronto

Today you journey from Canada’s Capital to the provincial capital of Ontario, Toronto. Home to the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and one of the most populous cities in Canada. Overnight Toronto

Day 21 – 22 Toronto

Home to a dynamic mix of attractions from museums and galleries to the world-famous CN Tower and Toronto Islands. The city centre is easy to navigate with many of the top attractions within walking distance of each other. Take a stroll along the waterfront before jumping on a cruise to explore the Islands. 2 nights Toronto

Day 23 Toronto – Niagara Falls

Take in the beautiful views of Lake Ontario from the comfort of your scheduled transfer. As you wind round the Niagara Peninsula and leave behind the bright lights of Toronto for the natural wonder that is the Niagara Falls. Overnight Niagara Falls

Day 24 Niagara Falls

Witness the extraordinary beauty of Niagara Falls on the Hornblower – Niagara’s most iconic excursion as you get to see the falls from the water up close, or if you would like to visit another quirky part of the Niagara Peninsula then jump on the Wego to Niagara on the Lake, a charming little town often described as the prettiest town in Ontario. In the evening stroll down Clifton Hill among the flashing attraction signs, karaoke bars and interesting window displays of life size celeb wax figures. Overnight Niagara Falls

Day 25 Fly Home

Take your scheduled transfer from your Niagara Falls Hotel to the airport where you will board your flight at Toronto to come back to the UK

ESTA online application for entry to the USA

Important: All cruise passengers must complete the online Visa Waiver form by visiting https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov which is needed for entry into the US at a cost of $21 per person.

You must complete an ESTA application at least 72 hours before flying. Any traveller who fails to complete an ESTA application at least 3 days before departure will almost certainly be refused entry into the country under new US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. If you are even considering visiting the States, it's worth filling out an ESTA application now as they are valid for two years. Important: If you are refused entry because you do not hold the correct travel documents or have had your application for ESTA rejected - you will NOT be entitled to any form of refund or covered by your travel insurance policy.
